The new AMD Ryzen processors have been unveiled!
Yes, the first Computex keynote of AMD’s Dr. Lisa Su is a success with the unveiling of the new Ryzen 3000 series processors and the X570 motherboard chipsets.
So let’s take a quick peek at the new processors and it’s architecture.
AMD X570 Chipset for the Ryzen 3000
The new X570 mortherboard was introduced as an upgrade to the X470 chipset. Although the previous X470 and B450 chipsets can fully support the new Ryzen 3000 processors, AMD felt the need to introduce a game changing technology into its chipsets.
Enter the X570 which fully utilizes the new PCIe 4.0 technology.
So what does this new PCIe 4.0 bring into the table? What features are there that even budget gamers would want it.
The only reason – Double the bandwidth.
Which means that graphics cards, NVMe drives, and any add-on cards that utilized the PCIe slot will have a bandwidth of 2GB/s per lane.
So if you plugged in your graphics card unto the x16 slot, the bandwidth that is available for your graphics card to use is now doubled up to 32 GB/s.
Now you need to have a capable graphics card that needs this much of bandwidth to fully utilize this feature.
And from the looks of it, AMD geared the X570 not only for Ryzen 3000 processors but also for Radeon RX 5700 graphics cards.
Will budget gamers even afford the RX 5700? Rumors suggest that the Radeon RX 5700 will be more affordable as compared to NVIDIA’s RTX graphics cards.
On the storage side, doubled bandwidth means that the new Gen4 NVMe drives have a greatly enhanced read/write performance as compared to Gen3 NVMe’s.
And more PCIe lanes means more options for more storage and other add-on cards.
AMD Ryzen 3000 processors
The new “Zen 2” architecture has arrived as the AMD Ryzen 3000 processors.
At the keynote AMD touted that the new “Zen 2” architecture has achieved a 15% boost in instructions per clock (IPC) performance as compared to the previous “Zen” architecture.
While IPC performance are boosted, cache sizes are significantly increased across all new processors.
Aside from all of these enhancements and improvements, the AM4 platform will now have a processor having more than 8 cores.
Enter the Ryzen 9 3900X, the first 12 core/ 24 thread processor on the AM4 socket for mainstream and even budget gamers.
And guess what, the Ryzen 9 3900X wouldn’t cost you a a liver or two as its MSRP is just $499 (USD).

For the PCIe lanes, all processors will have 40 lanes when combined with the X570 motherboard.
System Memory or RAM specification will be DDR4 3200MHz with dual-channel support.
All processors will have various thermal solutions like the Wraith Prism with RGB LED for the 3900X, 3800X, and 3700X. While the 3600X will have a Wraith Spire Cooler, the 3600 will have the Wraith Stealth.
These will be available to purchase on July 7, 2019.
